Since Dan and I enacted our succession plan, I really have been busy with life. Although I am still working with several clients, fulfilling my work and assisting Dan with tasks, keeping Willis & Machnik in good standing with the IRS, I have, with less time spent at the office, the freedom to pursue some more of my interests.
As most of you know my husband, Phil, and I love to travel to exotic places. We recently spent some time, together with 5 other couples, exploring Egypt and cruising the Nile River. It was an adventure.
A few years ago, Phil and I set up a private foundation which focuses on opportunities in the greater Jackson County area. We work closely with other foundations, both public and private to gain insight into the community needs. We have helped several non-profits complete their projects and has helped us reach our objective of “giving back”. For additional information, go to our website: Phil & Pat Willis Foundation to see what projects we have completed. This year, Willis & Machnik became one of the lead sponsors of Uncle Phil’s BBQ. Uncle Phil’s has been hosting a BBQ for the past 15 years providing over $200,000 to local deserving non-profits. Willis & Machnik, along with Knights Steak House has supported the event through providing all the food and giving financial support. We were successful at adding 15 new sponsors this year. Every dollar raised goes to the beneficiaries. I am continuing my volunteer activities with the Jackson Symphony Guild and last year, thorough our JSG Holiday Ball, was able to write a check for more than $100,000. Our Athena group is working toward a goal of satisfying the need for mentorship of young women to be successful in their profession. I am so grateful and blessed to have had the opportunity to work and live in this great community. Thanks to all my friends and clients for helping make that happen.
